You’ve done a lot of preparatory work communicating with publisher reps and instructors and introducing students to the program. Now you can share the specific tools they will need to access their materials, opt out/in, and know where to go for help.
Timing: Send to students the morning the LMS opens for the term.
Welcome to Inclusive Access, Example University Bookstore’s digital course materials program. The program offers eBooks and publisher courseware at a lower price than the bookstore or publisher websites. This semester, your professor for COURSE 1234 is taking part in the program so you can get your required materials at the lowest price.
So what does this mean for you? You can access your digital materials for a free trial through Example University’s add/drop deadline! After the trial period, the Example U Bookstore will charge your bursar account the discounted price of $55.00.
If you decide you do not want the materials through Inclusive Access, you can opt out of the program through a link in [LMS]. As long as you opt out by [Opt-out Deadline Date], your bursar account will not be charged.

Tips & Tricks for Student Instructions and Help
Use all the tools and resources you set up to guide students through the access and opting processes. Link from this email to your IA web page where they can find access instructions specific to their course material. You can also include the student instructions right in the body of this email.
Highlight and link to the Inclusive Access FAQ that you set up on your store website.
Break down how to get help for different issues. In the email above, notice that students should go to different help resources based on where they're struggling with the process. You want them to go to RedShelf if they are having trouble on the RedShelf site. You want them to go to the correct publisher tech support if they are having problems with a publisher site. And you want them to email your IA email address if they have general questions about the IA program. This makes your life easier, but it also makes it more likely that they will get the help they need as soon as possible.
Remember to sign these emails with a general team name (even if you’re a “team” of 1) and your IA email address rather than your personal contact information.
