How to Turn on Two-factor Authentication
- If you have a new phone and need to have it re-setup, you should be able to follow these steps.
- If you get stuck, or cannot advance without entering a code, please contact IT Support
Because of how we have our security settings configured within AWS, you will need to enable 2FA in order to actually access anything.
Once you have logged into AWS, click on your name in the upper right corner and select My Security Credentials from the drop down
This will open the Security Credentials page.
Scroll to Multi-factor authentication MFA section,
and click the Assign MFA device button
The Virtual MFA device option should already be selected, but make sure before clicking the blue Continue button
We currently do not use any of the other options, and the Virtual MFA device option generates a QR code that can be scanned into any authenticator app.
To display the QR code, you will need to click the SHOW QR CODE button.
Use your phone to scan the QR code and add it to your device.
Please take note that you will need to enter TWO consecutive codes in order to assign the MFA to your account.
