RedShelf has two types of integrations available for university partners: LTI 1.0/1.1 and LTI 1.3. Your institution will most likely only have one of them installed in your Learning Management System. There are 2 sets of instructions below, one for placing LTI 1.0/1.1 and one for placing LTI 1.3.
If you are currently only seeing the capabilities of 1.0/1.1 and are interested in the 1.3 tool, please contact your campus store and/or LMS team. They may be able to work with RedShelf to have your tool upgraded.
Please note that there might be some institutional blockers that are preventing your campus from upgrading, but we are working through those with our partners.

Within the target location select “RedShelf My Courses” and then select “Create Link.”
- If you chose RedShelf Course Materials, you will be able to link to a specific portion of the eBook within the RedShelf eReader. This allows you to create a link for a reading assignment to the start of the assignment in the eBook. This capability is only for eBooks. If your course is using publisher courseware, you will only be able to direct to "RedShelf My Courses."
- Check the box for “Load in a new tab.”

- Navigate to the course home page in Canvas
- Click on settings and select the Navigation tab
- Either drag RedShelf Course Materials to the “Enabled” section of the Navigation matrix OR select Enable from the three-dot menu to the right of RedShelf Course Materials in the disabled matrix.

Please Note:
Due to restrictions on how the LTI tool works, you might not have the option to impersonate a student experience (usually known as "Student View"). The professor and student experience are exactly the same. If you try to open the LTI view through a "Student View" you'll receive an error. An error outside of "student view" most likely means that your course has not yet been configured on RedShelf's side. Most course materials are made available 1-2 weeks before the term starts. If the error persists, please submit a request with our support team directly.
Note for Safari users:
If you encounter an error message when installing the tool, please be sure that you have "prevent cross-site tracking" disabled and attempt to install the tool again. For more information from Apple Support, click here.
