In collaboration with RedShelf, the campus bookstore, and publishers, Inclusive Access (IA) is a program that provides digital course materials at the most affordable rates to students. These materials are delivered directly through the LMS on the first day of class. IA might be referred to by different names on campus, such as All Access, Direct Access, Direct Digital, or First Day Access.
By transitioning to digital content, you can significantly reduce the inconvenience and cost associated with obtaining print books. RedShelf, in partnership with hundreds of publishers, offers a wide range of eBooks and courseware materials, making the switch to digital content a seamless and cost-effective process.
- eBooks: Digital versions of print textbooks delivered on RedShelf's award-winning eReader.
- Courseware: Educational content accessed on a publisher's website, such as Cengage MindTap, Pearson MyLab, or McGraw Hill Connect. Instructors set up their courses on the publisher's website and provide a weblink to students to gain access. Courseware can be either "coded" (RedShelf provides students with an access code to use on the publisher's website to view the course materials) or "codeless" (students only need to click through the access link in your LMS course shell that was created when setting up your course materials).
IA provides numerous benefits to you and your students, but some of the best include:
- First-day access to course materials available directly through the LMS
- The lowest available prices to students, and they can use financial aid to pay for course materials
- Improved student participation and completion rates
- Keeps critical textbook revenue on campus rather than going to big online retailers
If you are not currently using Inclusive Access in your courses, ask your bookstore how to request it with your course adoptions.
